So 2016 is here and we have just finished the first full week. It is kind of odd to think that we're actually here in 2016. When I was little, I was sure I'd never make it to this year and if I did it would take forever. But, I've made it and it didn't take forever. Instead, as I look back, it went really fast. 2015 flew by and all the different things that went on made it very memorable. We definitely had a lot more snow last January than we do this January. In fact, right now, all we have is rain! =(
Last January, a bunch of people from church, including me, stayed off sugar. I must say that that was one difficult month. Seeing everyone else drinking hot chocolate on the cold days and going to a bridal/baby (???) shower where the only food there was cheescake was definitely not too much fun. LOL.
February is really another down month. We don't do much. Just kinda keep chugging away at school. Dad's birthday is in the beginning and Mom went down to Virginia for a few days to spend the Valentine's day with her best friend whose birthday is also on the 14th. Cassia and I were in charge of putting together and hosting our annual Valentine's Day party. Thankfully, Michael was able to take care of the guys' department. They all go play football in the snow. (Guys are crazy. You will not get me to think the opposite!) We had a few girls and we stayed inside (we are very wise lol) and played games.
March is when the snow begins to melt and then comes right back. It's a pretty dreary month seeing as it's spring, but not spring (if that makes sense to anyone). Katrina's birthday is near the end and then we go into April.
Mom and Grandma both have birthdays in this month and this is when we really see spring arriving. The rain is nearly continuous, and last year, this rain continnued on into May. What a joy!
We also have the Missions Conference during this month and it is always a ton of fun. I learn a lot and always come away ready to lead a million souls to Christ.
May is an odd month, I think. It's right between the beginning of spring and the start of summer. Mike did graduate at the end of this month, but other than that, there was nothing. It's just a month that's there. We don't do much and we don't really think about it at all. The month of May is like a Thursday. In our family, we don't do much during either. It's just an extra month/day stuck in a random place.
June is the beginning of craziness. We finish school if we haven't already and begin our summer craziness. Zane's birthday is on the very last day of June and he turned eight last year. (How in the world is he already eight????)
July is crazy. We kicked off the month last year with a Fourth of July party at the Daire's house. That was awesome!! Volleyball, football, Capture the Flag, food, talking, laughing, etc, fill up the day. Soon after is the airshow and then Cassia's birthday. Last year she turned 16!!! After that we have the Orleans County Fair. We three oldest girls stayed at the M's for the week and helped out at the fair.
August held the city VBS, girls' camp, and then church VBS. Each of these are a blast and we all are exhausted by the end of the month.
September, we got back to school. Mike turned 18 and Mom and Dad enjoyed their 20 or 21 first anniversary. (I have no idea how long they've been married. A long time.)
October is when I turned 15. School continued and the weather began to cool a bit.
November, Seth turned 12 and we enjoyed Thanksgiving. We also got a family picture which we haven't done in who knows how long.
December was a bit crazy. There was no snow, but we had Christmas shopping, Christmas concerts (one at the mall and the other at church), Christmas parties, and finally Christmas Day. We spent the week doing different things and getting over strep throat. Thank the Lord only a few in our family got it.
2015 was definitely fun, but I won't miss it. I'm ready to see what 2016 holds and hope to get closer to the Lord this year.
